At AFRC, we believe that recovery looks different for everyone—and so does family.

Whether you are family of origin, friend, spouse, or other form of community with a loved one affected by substance use or mental health challenges, Family Support Services offers a place for us to come together, share and find healing. Engage with our community by joining the weekly Family Support Meeting, connecting with a Family Support Specialist for one-on-one coaching, or attending one of our Recovery Social Events.

My name is Annie, and I am a Family Support Specialist with Advocates for Recovery Colorado. I have been in active and sustained recovery from substance use and mental health challenges since 2021, and throughout my life I have been a primary support for loved ones affected by the same struggles. To me, recovery and support are about balance—balancing your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness; balancing what you need with what you can give; and balancing support with healthy boundaries. I believe that the community and connection offered by Family Support Services are powerful tools to help find and maintain that balance.

  • Family Support Meeting

The virtual Family Support Meeting occurs weekly, every Tuesday from 4:30pm-6:00pm MST. This meeting provides families and friends of loved ones that are affected by substance use and/or mental health challenges with a safe space to engage with curiosity and compassion. Participation is voluntary, and we recognize that support looks different for everyone; you are welcome to join and share your experiences, or to take the space to listen mindfully to others.

  • C.R.A.F.T Family Training

The virtual CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) will be on hold effective 12/18/2025. CRAFT will resume in 2026! Come join virtually to our weekly Family Support Meeting held on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:00PM MST! The goals of the CRAFT curriculum are to reduce your loved one’s substance use, engage your loved one in recovery/treatment, and improve your family’s quality of life and functioning. Topics of discussion include personal safety and improved communication. Join us to learn new skills for navigating the difficulties of loving someone that is struggling. This is an open group, so you are welcome to join at any time in the curriculum!
